Regarding the number of strings, the composer states "preferably 12 players: 3 First Violins, 3 Second Violins, 3 Violas, 2 Celli and 1 Doublebass. However, these numbers could be proportionately increased if desired, e.g. 9-9-6-4-2 or 12-12-9-6-3."
